Wokingham Hockey Club

Wokingham Hockey Club is a fun and friendly club that is also competitive and ambitious and aims to nurture as well as enhance any level of skill. The youth section offers a great opportunity for youngsters to get active and try their hand at the sport while the adult sections offer both high level and beginner training.

With a recently promoted Mens First team, the club are proud to offer a level of hockey to attract skilled and experienced players, retired players into the vets and also new players who want to try a new sport and engage in a buzzing social scene.

WHC pride themselves on being inclusive and adaptable to any kind of player and have some excellent coaches in both the adult and youth section that work hard to bring the best out of players.

The club has also achieved ClubsFirst accreditation for the second time following an application back in 2006 which means the club is also recommended by the local council and sporting bodies as a responsible and respectable club.

With three mens teams, three ladies teams and a vets team, there really is something for everyone at Wokingham Hockey Club.

England Hockey

England Hockey England Hockey is the National Governing Body for the sport of Hockey. Almost all sports have one and their main aim is to promote the sport at all levels. Grass roots right through to internationally. In practice this means a number of things including:

• Running coaching courses
• Bidding for money from the Government
• Organising competitions - from international to fun mixed competitions
• Supporting the development of clubs
• Hosting and updating a Hockey based Website
• Developing cutting edge techniques to develop players
• Organising the junior player pathways
• Running the club mark affiliation process

We pay a subscription to England hockey each year equating to approximately 5% of your fee to Wokingham hockey club. This is excellent value for money as it allows us to enter competitions, get our coaches trained, achieve club mark accreditation, run our club more efficiently, access funding from other sources.
