Vets Vs Havant Vets

4 – 1 (W)

Wokingham returned to winning ways with a dominant performance at Havant and really should have scored more goals. Right from the start Wokingham were on the attack and only some early profligacy but the forwards and some inspired goalkeeping held to score at 0-0. Constant pressure told in the end when Jas Jeeta picked out Alan Baines in space who drove home on the 25 minute mark. Five minutes later, Roland Mear forced the ball home from all of 2 inches after a great run and shot by Graham Lee. The constant pressure left Wokingham short at the back and Havant broke away to score with their only shot of the half, seconds before the half-time whistle.

The pattern was repeated in the second half as Wokingham penned Havant back in their half for long periods.  As Havant were so much on the back foot,  Wokingham found it increasingly difficult to find openings to shoot, in a circle packed  with Havant defenders.  Eventually, after 20 minutes of the second half, a well-placed cross from Rik Temmink was turned in by Mear, who also hit the post two minutes later. To wrap up the victory, Graham Lee cut in from the
left and added a fourth goal before having to leave the field with a head wound and Wokingham ran out comfortable victors.

Scorers: Roland Mear 2, Alan Baines, Graham Lee
MoM: Rik Temmink
DoD: Richard 'Falling with style' Backhouse

Next Game: Amersham
